Calvin Valentine (aka G_Force) is a seasoned, well-rounded Hip-Hop artist/musician. Born in Eugene, OR - Calvin started making music at the age of 6. Before moving to Portland in the summer of 2009, Calvin had already toured as a drummer for rock band, Medium Troy, on the 2008 Warped Tour, and released multiple group projects through CDBaby and iTunes.
Then, after having already produced for nationally recognized acts as Planet Asia, Strong Arm Steady, Braille, two-time World Rap Champion Illmaculate, and National Poetry Slam championship El Guante; and forming his own much-buzzed about rap group, TxE, with partners Tope & Epp - Calvin shifted gears and combined his unique talent of being able to not just rap, write hooks and produce, but also play multiple instruments (drums, keys, bass, vocoder, live MPC, etc.) & established himself as a fully functioning solo act. He started it off with the release of Valentine’s Day - his solo debut, which got nods of approval from notable blogs such as Soulbounce and Kevin Nottingham, and got him shows performing in London, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles & more. That following April, Calvin teamed up with Illmaculate, producing the highly-anticipated album, The Green Tape, which tastemaker blog FRSH SLCTS chose to officially relaunch their site with. He then followed that up with another free collaboration LP, this time with Planet Asia - entitled Camouflage Jackets, which the campaign for got picked up by Okayplayer, 2DopeBoyz, and countless other sites. More recently, Calvin has also branched out into licensing his work & creating new original scores for use in commercials, TV/films, & video games - with one of his first placements being on Maestro Knows’ Get Yourself Tested campaign on MTV. With all that he’s accomplished by just the age of 23, the future for
Mr. Valentine is even brighter still - with over a half dozen completed projects already set for release in 2012, including TxE’s official debut LP, his own solo follow-up, & so much more.
